Quiet

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking is a new bestseller that I just started reading.  It's compelling and backed by extensive research.  I'm loving it, probably because I'm one of those sensitive introvert types:)

Fancy Pants PB&J

Wessel's Raw Local Honey and Adam's Natural Chunky Peanut Butter on Franz Cracked Wheat Sourdough made for a more adult friendly-kid sandwich today.  Cashew or Almond Butter would be good too.

Garage Toys Freed

I keep many toys in the garage so that clean up is easier.  Today we brought them out and it was like Christmas shopping for my little guy.  He's loving me today.

What will your baby look like?

While I was pregnant I used a website where you upload a picture of yourself and your husband or partner and it creates an image of what your child will look like.  He looked nothing like this.

What's Comes After Facebook?

Is Google+ ever going to take off?

Will Facebook ever be usurped by another social networking site?

Is this already happening with the popularity of Twitter and Instagram?

What will be the next big thing?

Thoughts?

StumbleUpon

My friend let me know about Stumbleupon a few years ago.  It can be more addicting than Pinterest, especially if you're my husband.  It allows you to click on your personal interests and then you get random websites to peruse.  It's a good cure for boredom!

Cashew Milk Recipe

1/4 cup cashews soaked overnight, then drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cup water
Blend for three minutes
No straining required.  This is like 2% milk,
add less water for creamier result

Spring has Sprung

Me:  Our daffodils look like they are starting to die,
but they'll come back again next year.

3 y.o.:  Just like people do

Me: (with nervous expression) That's right.

Scooping Rice Project

Here is a simple idea that may entertain your preschooler for twenty minutes while you cook.  Put rice on a cookie sheet with measuring cups and spoons and let them scoop away.

How's It Made?

3 y.o.: How's a body made?
Me: Well...
3 y.o.: You take bone, but skin on, add a brain and put pants on it.
Me: It looks like that's figured out.

Deep thoughts from the boy

Me: Do you remember what it was like when you were born?

My 3 year old: I touched God.  There was a birthday cake.

Does God have a face like me? Does he have a body?
Does he float in the sky in a rocket-ship?

Need Online matching for Moms seeking pladates

We need something ala Match.com where moms can create a profile that includes preferences and would match us with someone similar for playdates.  Perfectplaydatematch.com anyone??

My ad would say

Me: Quiet, introverted, tea drinker, book reader, writer,
t.v. watcher who likes long walks

My 3 year old: Social, creative, "assertive", high energy
boy who runs fast

Seeking similar types to pass time with

Playgrounds

are not for the faint of heart.  It's a cutthroat world for the littles, trampled by the bigs.  Witnessing the swirling, swinging shenanigans I watched the clock, wondering, can I go home yet?

Summly Amazing

A fifteen year old created an ap/company (Summly) that just sold to Yahoo for 30 million!  I'm always inspired by overachieving youth.  I secretly kind of wish I'd been one of them.

Beauty

This is Multnomah Falls.  The spectacle of the
cascading water and the spray of it hitting our
cheeks is a fond memory.  It reminded
me of nature's mammoth power.

Daring Greatly

is Brene Brown's compelling book about vulnerability.
It's on my bedside table and I'm loving it!
I'm not finished yet, but it's worth reading just
for the chapter on parenting.

Awesome Mom Blogs

These are two of my favorite mom blogs:
Momastery and Rage Against the Minivan.
I admire the community of like minded mothers they've created.
The writing is also awe inspiring!

C is for Carrot??

I've noticed a disturbing Cookie Monster makeover
He sings about bananas and apples.
I miss the Sesame Street of the seventies, even my
three year old has no interest in these p.c. puppets!

S

So I'm seeking something...
Singing seems seductive.
Settling on sedentary short snipets to soothe my soul
Sounds of rain sit in my ears as I sip cinnamon tea and type.
Time to turn in.
